It’s that time of the year again! Our decorations are up and we are all set to make this holiday season a great one.
Whilst Christmas and the New Year is known as a time of happiness for many, we understand that for many of our residents it can be quite a difficult time. Struggling with damaged family relationships and similar issues can make the holiday season very lonely and difficult. That’s why we make extra efforts to ensure our residents feel loved and “part of” during this time.
For Christmas Eve, we have booked an Alpha family meal at Babar Khan’s. This is a chance for us all to get together with food, fun and (non-alcoholic) drinks. After all, nothing says Christmas like a table full of food, surrounded by friends.
Boxing Day promises yet more festivities to bring us all together, as we will be offering our residents a double dose of fun with both bowling and a trip to the cinema.
Whilst most places close down around Christmas, we will have staff available 24/7 throughout this period. For those who need any additional therapy around the holidays, we will also open up the office on the 27th for groups.
In addition, we will also be distributing free food to residents on Christmas Eve to ensure we are all well fed this Christmas. This is thanks to a generous donation from Aldi, in partnership with Neighbourly, who we receive regular weekly donations from. This Christmas donation is in addition to our regular pickup, and promises to quite the feast!
Some of our residents are blessed to have families to spend time with over the holidays, but for those that don’t, we are pleased to provide a safe, welcoming place to go and be around people who care.
We understand our residents only represent a small number of those who find Christmas a very difficult time of year, so we encourage everyone to do what they can to help those in need. There are many ways that you can help people in Halifax. To donate to us at Alpha House, you can contact us directly. Another service that offers help to those in need, especially during the colder months is The Gathering Place. Please click on the link to find out how you can help.
From everyone at Alpha House, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
